Clever marketing

Clever marketing covers a myriad of sins especially when it comes to the word “Natural”. A few things on that list should raise some concerns. For example, sodium benzoate is a toxic preservative. Even more worrying is the innocuous “fragrance.” Putting a simple “fragrance” on the label is just euphemism for: “this is a mixture of really toxic stuff that we don’t want you to know you are putting in your body.” Don’t fall for sneaky marketing. Look at what you are really putting on your skin be for buying.

oil-free moisturizers when your face is already an oily? Maybe not

It seems intuitive to reach for the oil-free moisturizers when your face is already an oil slick, but when we apply drying products on the skin, it actually signals the skin to produce more oil to compensate for the oil that is being stripped away. But when we use an oil-based day moisturizer, it signals the pores to produce less sebum. If we treat dry skin with rich, heavy creams or oils we effectively trick our skin into believing it’s been producing too much of its own oil. In response it will decrease production, perpetuating the dry skin cycle. Try using our mattifying cream or clarifying cream to regulate your skins oil production.

Say no to soap!

Soap, even “gentle” sudsing cleansing bars, even castile soap, disrupt the skins acid mantle and pH. Harsh and stripping, soaps dissolve all the skins natural oils. So much so that even a toner wont get your PH perfectly back. Try using a gentle cleanser instead like our Cleansing Milk. Simple, yet effective this will e your cleansing go to solution.

“When I’m really nervous I tend to sweat a lot.”

“I don’t know about you but when I get stressed out or when I’m really nervous I tend to sweat a lot. I’ve tried all kinds of deodorants and some are better than others but there is a lot of controversy on some of the ingredients found in a lot deodorants especially the high strength ones. The website Cancer.gov has a lot of amazing recourses when it comes to products with any harmful ingredients. It says that articles in the press and on the Internet have warned that underarm antiperspirants (a preparation that reduces underarm sweat) or deodorants (a preparation that destroys or masks unpleasant odors) cause breast cancer. The reports have suggested that these products contain harmful substances, which can be absorbed through the skin or enter the body through nicks caused by shaving. Some scientists have also proposed that certain ingredients in underarm antiperspirants or deodorants may be related to breast cancer because they are applied frequently to an area next to the breast.”

Eye care 101

A Little Goes a Long Way
In terms of eye cream application, a little bit goes a long way. You only really need the size of a pea of eye cream to cover both eye areas.

Apply Eye Cream on the Orbital Bone
The orbital bone is the area between the highest part of the cheekbone and underneath the eyes. If the eye cream is applied anywhere closer to the eye, you’ll risk irritating your eyes.

Use Your Ring Finger to Apply Eye Cream
The ring finger is the weakest of the five fingers. The key here is to be as gentle to this area as possible.

Don’t Rigorously Rub the Eye Area
I empathize with you when waterproof mascara and stubborn eye liner just won’t come off. But resist the urge to rub it off with a rough towel.  They work like a charm and will save you the hassle of having to battle with eye makeup. Moreover, don’t rub your eyes! I personally have the tendency to do that, and I have to consciously make an effort not to.

When Puffy Eyes Strike…
The first thing you can do is splash your face with cool water to ‘wake up’ the skin. Then take two damp tea bags that have been refrigerated for at least 15 minutes and place them underneath the eyes for about 10 minutes. Lastly, apply a small dab of our Ceramide Eye Gel on the orbital bone to refresh and help de-puff the eye area.  The cool sensation will help constrict the blood vessels, thereby reducing swelling.

Use an Eye Cream Morning and Evening Daily
We can’t stress enough how fragile the eye area is. Fragileness requires extra TLC and that is where eye creams come in. They are formulated to nourish the eye area and contain anti-aging ingredients to prevent and slow down the formation of crow’s feet and fine lines. Check out our line of eye creams.
